6. Intellectual Property and User-Submitted Content
WhatIsBrainFog or its content suppliers own all editorial content on this Site, including text, graphics, logos, illustrations, citation structures, tools, and design elements. Copyright protects this content. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works of our editorial content without express written permission.
User-submitted content. When you voluntarily submit a My Fog check-in, saved item, note, comment, feedback, or any other content (“User Content”), you retain ownership of it. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable, and irrevocable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt, moderate, redact, aggregate, translate, analyze (including with automated and AI tools), and display your User Content for the purpose of operating the Site, improving our editorial content, and publishing derived summaries. We will honor the consent scope you select at submission time (for example, private or research) for any aggregated display. This improvement license does not apply to Buddy conversations. Buddy messages are processed to produce replies and, if you choose, to continue a saved chat. WBF does not use them to train or fine-tune AI, create research datasets, produce editorial summaries, or supply other public content. You represent that any content you submit is yours to share, does not contain another person’s identifying information without their consent, and does not contain protected health information that you are not authorized to disclose.
Takedown and withdrawal. You may request deletion of your User Content at any time via the data-subject request flow at our Privacy page. We will delete identifiable records within a reasonable period. Aggregated or anonymized derivations that no longer identify you may remain in our historical artifacts.
7. Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
- Reproduce or redistribute content without permission
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site
- Use the Site in any way that could damage, disable, or impair it
- Use automated means to access the Site without permission
7A. AI Training, Data Mining, and Automated Access
The content on this Site (including all editorial text, citations, summaries, comparisons, tools, calculators, doctor handouts, supplement recommendations, lab interpreter outputs, glossary entries, and other published material) is the product of substantial human editorial effort. The publisher expressly reserves its rights for text-and-data-mining and AI training purposes.
By accessing the Site you agree to the following restrictions:
- No AI training. You may not use, copy, scrape, extract, or otherwise reproduce any portion of the Site to train, fine-tune, prompt-engineer, evaluate, embed, vectorize, distill, or develop any generative AI model, large language model, multimodal model, embedding model, or derivative AI system, whether for research, commercial, or any other purpose.
- No dataset inclusion. You may not include any portion of the Site in any public or private dataset, corpus, archive, or aggregation distributed for AI training, model evaluation, benchmarking, retrieval-augmented generation indexing, or any related purpose.
- No commercial reuse. You may not reproduce, syndicate, paraphrase, or repackage any portion of the Site for commercial use by any party other than the publisher, including derivative AI-generated content based on Site material.
- No automated extraction without verifiable bot identity. Scraping, crawling, indexing, or systematic extraction by any agent that has not obtained verifiable bot identity from the publisher (via contact email below) is prohibited. This includes residential-proxy-routed automated access and headless-browser scraping.
Machine-readable opt-out. The publisher states its rights reservation under EU Copyright Directive 2019/790 Article 4 (text-and-data-mining), the United Kingdom Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 section 29A, and the Berne Convention in machine-readable form through:
- HTTP response header

Technical access controls. The Site is protected by Cloudflare Web Application Firewall, edge access gates, application-layer middleware, IP and ASN blocking, and bot-management heuristics. Bypassing or attempting to bypass these technical controls (for example, by rotating user agents, using residential proxy networks, spoofing verified-bot identity, or otherwise concealing the source of requests) is a violation of these Terms and may constitute circumvention of technical protection measures under applicable digital copyright law.
Research access by request. Research organizations as defined in EU CDSM Article 2(1) acting in the public interest may request written permission for limited content access by emailing hello@whatisbrainfog.com with institution, project description, corpus use, and publication plan. Any extraction needs written permission first. Approval does not transfer downstream commercial rights, dataset distribution rights, or AI training rights.
Continued access constitutes agreement. Continued access, scraping, or extraction after publication of these Terms and the machine-readable opt-outs listed above constitutes willful, knowing access in violation of the publisher's reserved rights.
8. Third-Party Links
This Site may contain links to third-party websites. We provide these links for convenience only. We do not endorse, control, or assume responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites.
8A. Optional Reader Contributions
WBF may accept optional payments from individual readers. PayPal processes contributions in USD. They are voluntary and do not buy medical advice, paid access, ownership, or editorial influence.
Monthly contributions renew each month until cancelled. You can request cancellation through Your contributions or manage it through PayPal Automatic Payments. A cancellation request stops future billing after PayPal confirms it. It does not automatically reverse a payment already completed.
You may request review within 14 days of the latest completed payment through Your contributions. A request is not an automatic refund. WBF reviews each request based on the payment's current status, including whether it has already been refunded, reversed, disputed, or charged back.
PayPal's user agreement and privacy statement also apply to its checkout and payment processing. PayPal processes the payment through the operator's existing business account, which may display Sureokgo on some PayPal or statement surfaces. The WBF checkout itself displays WhatIsBrainFog.
A contribution isn't a charitable donation, and you won't get a charitable tax receipt. It is not an investment, grant, membership, or purchase of any part of WBF.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
